Early Years

There is lots of support for parents/carers of babies and young children (0 5 years), across the borough, who have identified or suspected special educational needs.

SEND Parent Carers in Wandsworth have produced this guide to make accessing information and links to early years services as simple as possible for parents and carers who are new to the world of SEND.

West Hill Enhanced Children’s Centre

The Enhanced Children’s Centre is a provision specifically for families in Wandsworth with young children (0-5 years) with a disability, special educational need or complex medical need.   You will find a welcoming space where you and your child can have fun, play and learn. Portage

Portage Inclusion and Advisory Service is a home-visiting educational service for pre-school children (aged 0-4 years) with special educational needs or a disability (SEND)and their families.
Portage offers support to parents whose children are aged 0-4 years and have a delay in two or more areas of development, one of which is a cognitive delay of approximately 6 months or a diagnosis which is known to affect development.

Wandsworth Children’s Centres

Children’s Centres across the borough that provide a welcoming space where children aged 0 – 5 years and their parents/carers can play and learn.  They offer spaces to play, opportunities to meet other parents/carers and provide parenting and other workshops such as getting ready for nursery.

Early Years Inclusion Advisory Service

The Early Years Inclusion Advisory Service is part of the Early Years Inclusion Service and works towards enabling children aged 3 months to five years who have additional needs to meet their fullest potential within Early Years Educational settings

15 hours Early education and childcare places (EECP) for 2 year olds

Families with children aged two years old, who meet the eligibility criteria, are entitled to a maximum of 15 hours per week of free early education for 38 weeks per year from the term after their child’s second birthday.  This will run until the child is eligible for the three year-old nursery education funding which is the term after their third birthday

15 hours Early Education and Childcare Places (EECP) for 3- and 4-Year-Olds in Wandsworth

3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery provision. This is available via a range of providers across the borough. Some children are entitled to 30 hours free nursery provision.

30 Hours Extended Childcare Offer - an additional 15 hours of funded childcare for working parents of 3 and 4 year olds
